SHARE A TABLE

Let’s go eat.

You were going to eat anyway. Share a Table gives you a way to put a little company across from your plate. Find somebody with an open chair, or pick a local restaurant and invite a few people to join you.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a reason to get out of the house. A shared meal can start a conversation, a friendship, or a stronger connection to your community.

A few easy steps

From “I’m hungry” to “see you there.”

  1. 1

    Make yourself at home.

Create your free member profile with your email and the code we send you. Start with your name, city, and the table rules. Add a short introduction before joining a public table. Photos and the longer profile questions are optional; add more whenever you like. You can choose No chapter and still do all of this.

  2. 2

Find a chair or make room.

Browse open tables for a restaurant, date, and time that suit you. Or start your own: choose a public restaurant, say when you’re eating and how many chairs you have, and add a short note. “Trying the tacos. Come hungry.” is plenty.

  3. 3

    Get the table together.

Request a chair at the meal you like and wait for the Table Starter to confirm it. Starting the table yourself? Check the requests and confirm your guests. The meal page shows the details and who’s confirmed. Posting a table doesn’t make a restaurant reservation; contact the restaurant if your group needs one.

  4. 4

    Show up and enjoy lunch.

Or breakfast. Or dinner. Order what you want, pay for your own food and tip, and get to know the people across the table. Nobody needs a rehearsed introduction or a sparkling personality. Being there is a pretty good start.

Your pace. Your appetite.

Come when you can.

GastroMob is free to join and use. No dues, no fees, no secret handshake. There’s no required chapter and no demands on your calendar. Come once, come often, or pop back in when life gives you room. If you’ve confirmed a chair and your plans change, cancel it and let your table know.

Everyone and every area are welcome. We started in northern Indiana and southern Michigan, which is why there’s more activity there right now. The idea works anywhere people could use some company over a meal. Share a Table is for adults 18 and older.

Let someone know where you are.

Open your meal page to choose optional trusted-contact safety updates. Add someone you trust and their email. They get the restaurant and address, then automatic updates when you check in and finish your meal. Their details stay private, and they don’t need a GastroMob account. You choose this separately for each meal.

A little extra for the table.

Need something to get the conversation moving? Try the free table games. After eating, finish your own meal in Past activity whenever you’re ready. You can share a review and photos, give your tablemates badges, or simply leave with a full belly and a better day. Those extras are optional.

Keep it local.

Our restaurant reviews and directory are for independent restaurants and regional groups. Explore Find Food for ideas, or add a local place we’re missing before reviewing it. Chains and corporate restaurant brands don’t qualify.

There’s room at the table.

Take a look at the open chairs, or give somebody a reason to join you at your favorite local spot. The monthly Mob is another way to get together; see how it works and join whichever kind of meal fits your day.
